Rangeley Community Chorus Concert

The newly formed Rangeley Community Chorus will be giving its first public performance at 7:00 PM on August 26, 2009 at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rangeley.  The chorus includes both year round and seasonal residents of the Rangeley area, plus members from Carrabassett Valley, Strong and Eustis.  Chorus members have been meeting since early June to prepare selections. Director Sue Downes-Borko is thrilled with the quality of singers in the group.  “It is evident that many in the group have prior singing experience and we have some strong leaders in each section.”  The program is titled “ Songs of Mountain, River and Forest” and Sue selected the pieces to be as diverse possible while still fitting the theme.  Included in the concert will be: a song recorded by Harry Belafonte called Turn the World Around, Oye la Musica, In Stiller Nacht by Brahms (sung in German), Colors of the Wind from the movie “Pocahontas”, a spiritual entitled Follow the River, and the 1967 Marvin Gaye hit song “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”.   Tickets ($7) may be purchased at the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce 864-5346 or at the door
