The finals will take place on Saturday, June 23 in Oquossoc at the Rangeley Lakes Region Moose Lottery Festival hosted by the Rangeley Region Guides & Sportsmen’s Association. Other prizes to be awarded include items from sponsors Cabelas and Extreme Dimension Wildlife Calls. The contest is also sponsored by Franklin Savings Bank and Moosehead Lager. To enter the moose calling championship all you have to do is show up at Bald Mountain Camps on June 2. Have your calls ready and bring the props you also use to attract moose.

Three qualifying events have already been held. Winners from the events at Cabelas, the Orono and Augusta Sportsman’s Shows along with winners at the Presque Isle Sportsman’s Show’s Moose Calling Contest have already been invited to the finals. As the qualifying events were held, the participants increasingly added to their repertoire of moose calls and attraction techniques. Entrants are evaluated by a panel of judges based on their cow call, bull call, other attractant techniques, and presentation. The other attractant techniques category has seen entrants bringing bushes, antlers, canoe paddles, axe handles and buckets of water. This is a unique Maine event particularly with the contestants showcasing all of their techniques for attracting moose.

The public is invited to view the event at Bald Mountain Camps. Not only will this be an entertaining event but you will learn much from these moose behavior experts.

The Rangeley Lakes Region Moose Lottery Festival will be held in Rangeley and Oquossoc over the June 22-24 weekend. Along with the 2012 IF&W Moose Lottery Drawing there will be numerous outdoor sporting activities for the entire family.
