5th Annual Oquossoc Day arrives on Saturday, August 20th

MARDI GRAS IN AUGUST…that’s the theme for the annual Oquossoc Day celebration and Dinner/Dance, a day  of fun for everyone..  This year the featured band will be ‘CAHOOTS’ with music of the 60’s –  80’s promising a fun dancing night after a delicious meal at our potluck dinner.
The days’ events start with Stony Batter Station’s Art and Antique Show at 10 am to 4 pm in their parking lot and continuing to the new Outdoor Heritage Museum.  This year features a Wooden Boat Show, an  Open Division Sailing Race, a judged Mardi Gras theme boat parade, the Parade of Airplanes and the ‘Sinking of the Bismarck’.  A new feature will be seaplane rides, all down at the Oquossoc Marina.  Afternoon lake tours can be arranged on The Oquossoc Lady.  (call 443 603-7929)
The new Outdoor Heritage Museum will be open with docent guided tours from 10am – 2 pm.  Don’t miss out on an opportunity to learn about our incredible historical past.
The Oquossoc  Log Church will also be open for viewing.
Local businesses will have a variety of specials:  The Gingerbread House Restaurant will have $2.00 ice cream, wonderful lunch specials and a band on their deck.  The Four Seasons Café’  will have a bouncy for children’s pleasure while parents can enjoy the music of Jimmy Austen and delicious BBQ foods, with special draft beer prices.  Scotty’s Lobster Pound will have their famous lobster rolls, the Farmer’s Daughter will have incredible baked goods and specials, and the Oquossoc Grocery is also featuring a Bouncy for the young folks and their on deck BBQ  lunches. They will also be hosting the ‘Doggy Parade’.  Shop at River’s Edge for all-day specials.  Don’t forget to visit the condos at Saddleback  Mountain’s property on the Marina.

10 am – Wooden Boat Show, Land and Slip at Oquossoc Marina
11:00 – Dog show line-up at Oquossoc Grocery
11:30 am – Dog show
11:30 am – Sailing Race registration
12 noon – Sailing Race, open division
1 pm – Boat parade.  Theme:  Mardi Gras
2:30 pm – Parade of airplanes and ‘Sink the Bismarck’
5 pm – 6 pm Oquossoc Marine Dance social hour, cash bar served by The Gingerbread House Restaurant.
6 pm – Pot-luck dinner at Oquossoc Marine, $15 ticket includes dinner and dancing
7 pm – 10 pm  Dance to the lively music by  ‘CAHOOTS’.
Dinner  tickets available on site, the Gallery and Oquossoc Marine for $15 a person.
