Tour the majestic Rangeley Lakes Region by land or air. The 35.6 mile Rangeley Lakes Scenic Byway winds its way along Routes 4 and 17 through richly wooded forests, brisk mountain streams, farm fields, and a chain of lakes and ponds. The trip takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete during which travelers are sure to see an abundance of wildlife! The Franklin Heritage Loop which traverses the same routes through the villages of Oquossoc and Rangeley is also recommended. The Height of Land overlooking Mooselookmeguntic Lake and the mountains beyond is one of the highlights of both trips.

Prefer to see the Rangeley Lakes Region by air? Float and wheel planes are available for 20-minute scenic flights that highlight the rugged beauty of the area’s lakes and mountains. Moose, loons and other indigenous wildlife are usually spotted during these popular trips. Scheduled 2 hour fire patrol flights are also open to visitors who desire a longer tour.
